Avature is a flexible product and building it requires using a variety of tools with an adaptable approach. Cloud Engineers are fundamental in that process, as they provide the tools and environments used throughout the development cycle. Core Infrastructure works closely with our Networking team to maintain data centers that provide on-premise cloud infrastructure used by Avature teams. 

Collaborating with teams from several engineering specializations, you'll be in direct contact with the variety of operating systems, cloud technologies, and DevOps methodologies we use through the entire development pipeline, ensuring smooth operations all the way.

Your challenges and objectives:

  • Understand Avature's infrastructure and processes.
  • Build, deploy, and configure on-prem and cloud-based infrastructure resources in production and development environments.
  • Learn to apply DevOps and SRE techniques to automate solutions to complex problems.
  • Perform troubleshooting on ongoing incidents, ensuring quick and reliable responses to monitoring events.
  • Interact and collaborate with colleagues from all around the globe. 
  • Hold ownership and accountability over our Linux-based infrastructure, on premise and in the cloud.

Your day-to-day activities:

  • Configure and maintain on-premise infrastructure in our data centers.
  • Participate in defining standards with a DevOps/SRE mindset and promote them.
  • Apply changes in our platforms using configuration management and infrastructure-as-code principles.
  • Ensure resilience and continuity on running systems with quick response to outages.
  • Design and automate complex operations to scale in distributed datacenters around the world.
  • Stay up-to-date on new functionalities, best practices, and ways to implement solutions in a variety of open source software stacks.
  • Provide guidance and support to operations teams, contributing on the maintenance and administration of the platform at the OS level (kernel and storage).

About you:

  • Solid Linux system administration experience and knowledge.
  • Superior analytical/troubleshooting skills.
  • Background on managing cloud-based platforms.
  • Understanding of security mechanisms for operating systems and cloud services.
  • Cloud administration and containerization experience with technologies such as AWS, Docker, and OpenStack.
  • Knowledge of automation: configuration management (e.g. Puppet), observability.
  • Infrastructure-as-code knowledge (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation) is a plus.
  • Bash coding skills.
  • Software development skills (e.g. Python) are a plus.
