Data Base Administrator (DBA)

Your day to day activities:
  • Design and write scripts to extract, transform, cleanse and load data in different databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, etc.
  • Support the development team in the creation, optimization, and  implementation of queries and views to support application and reporting functionality.
  • Work with developers to administer change management to schema including data migration
  • Perform database tuning and performance monitoring
  • Set and monitor policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management, access, and security
  • Optimize and evolve the schema of a growing enterprise application
  • Follow the MySQL project to recommend when to adopt new features

About you:
  • Strong analytical skills to be able to resolve complex technical and functional issues
  • Detail oriented
  • Very good comprehension and writing in English
  • Understanding of data mining objectives, applications, tools, and techniques
  • Solid understanding of SQL usage, structure, and tuning/optimization, hints and query analysis
  • MySQL, Oracle and PosgreSQL experience are desirable
  • Basic experience building data warehouses to capture data from diverse sources for analysis and access
  • Good knowledge of relational database theory
  • Good knowledge of physical database design
  • Good knowledge of database tools and utilities
  • Good knowledge of underlying operating system (linux prefered)
  • Familiar with industry best practices in systems administration
  • Ability and willingness to support a 24/7 Production Environment (approximately 1 week on call by month)
